Allegheny Health Network promotes 2 leaders

Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network is promoting two executives, effective Jan. 1, 2020.

Jeffrey Cohen, MD, was appointed chief physician executive, community health and innovation, a newly created role. He is currently president of Allegheny General Hospital, the network’s flagship hospital. He has held the role since 2016. Dr. Cohen was previously director of Allegheny General Hospital’s urology department.

In his new role, Dr. Cohen will be the liaison between Allegheny Health Network and Pittsburgh-based Highmark Health on initiatives involving population health, social determinants of health and the community’s economic well-being. He will also help coordinate efforts to develop products and technologies.

David Parda, MD, succeeds Dr. Cohen as president of Allegheny General Hospital. He is currently system chair of the Allegheny Health Network’s cancer institute/department of oncology, institutional review board, which reviews and approves plans for clinical trials.

Dr. Parda joined Allegheny General Hospital in 1998. Before the formation of Allegheny Health Network in 2013, he was West Penn Allegheny Health System’s oncology chair. He also was the head of radiation oncology at Allegheny General Hospital.
