Mr. Shaw succeeds Don Jernigan, who is retiring after a decade-long tenure as health system leader. Mr. Shaw has been with Adventist since 1982, and he has served in numerous roles over the years, including as director of Orlando-based Florida Hospital. He has also served as vice president and then senior vice president of the health system.

In his new role, Mr. Shaw will oversee the system’s 46 hospital campuses as well as urgent care centers, home health and hospice agencies, physician practices and skilled nursing facilities. He holds a master’s degree in administration from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and is a member of the Hospital Financial Management Association as well as American College of Healthcare Executives.

“Terry’s experience serving as CFO and COO combined with his breadth of organizational understanding from financial, operations and clinical improvement perspectives will serve Adventist Health System well,” said Mr. Jernigan, in a statement.
