Adventist Health System promotes Dr. Kathleen Clem to chief clinical officer

Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System selected Kathleen Clem, MD, to serve as executive vice president and chief clinical officer, effective Dec. 1.

Dr. Clem most recently served as vice president and CMO for Florida Hospital East Orlando, part of the Adventist family. Her career includes numerous firsts, including serving as the first female department chair at the Loma Linda (Calif.) University School of Medicine and the first female division chief in the department of surgery at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

An emergency medicine physician by training, Dr. Clem has organized medical teams to support clinical care and teaching efforts in Tanzania, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Honduras, Nepal, Vietnam, the Solomon Islands, Palestine and China.

Dr. Clem succeeds Loran Hauck, MD, who will take on a new role within the health system that focuses on its clinical care transformation initiative.
