Recipients of 2011 CHEF Awards included:
• Sister Donna Marie Wolowicki, former CO of Resurrection Healthcare, received the Career Achievement Award
• Kevin Scanlan, CEO of Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council, received the Healthcare Leadership Award
• Jeffrey Hillebrand, COO, NorthShore HealthSystem, received the Healthcare Leadership Award
• Min Zhu, Graduate Student in the Health Administration program at the University of Illinois, received the Health Studies Student Leadership Award
• St. Alexius Medical Center’s Stroke Team received the Innovation Award
• St. Alexius Medical Center’s Epilepsy Team received the Service Excellence Award
• Bechara Choucair, MD, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health, received the Community Health Leadership Award
The event closed with a panel session titled “Leading and Motivating a Multigenerational Organization” featuring John Combes, MD, senior vice president of the American Hospital Association and president of the Center for Healthcare Governance; Thomas Dolan, PhD, president and CEO, ACHE; Joanne Disch, PhD, RN, president, American Academy of Nursing; and James Madara, MD, CEO, American Medical Association. The panel was moderated by Fawn Lopez, publisher, Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician.
