4 things to know about HealthEast's leadership changes, reorganization

HealthEast Care System, based in St. Paul, Minn., is making internal organizational and leadership changes, according to a Pioneer Press report.

Here are four things to know about the changes.

1. HealthEast plans to consolidate strategic business units associated with care delivery, including units associated with the HealthEast network of primary care clinics and community services, according to the report. They include four hospitals — Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, Minn., St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, and Woodwinds Health Campus in Woodbury, Minn. — as well as specialty programs.

2. As part of the organizational and leadership changes, Bethesda Hospital President Cathy Barr, a senior vice president of ambulatory and community services, has been named COO. In that role, she will be responsible for HealthEast's new consolidated care delivery services, according to the report.

3. Additionally, HealthEast senior vice president and CMO Steve Kolar, MD, plans to retire in January. According to the Pioneer Press, Kevin Garrett, MD, vice president and executive medical director, will take over as CMO and will partner with Ms. Barr overseeing care delivery.

4. Layoffs are not part of the reorganization.
