CEO Richard Hammett: The New Face of The Medical Center of Aurora

Richard Hammett, MBA, has served as the CEO of The Medical Center of Aurora (Colo.) since August 2012. He also serves as the CEO of the medical center's Centennial (Colo.) Medical Plaza campus.

Prior to joining The Medical Center of Aurora, Mr. Hammett served as the COO of St. David's Medical Center in Austin, Texas, a position he held from 2007 to 2012. While he was in the C-suite at St. David's Medical Center, he helped grow the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute into an internationally recognized program.

During his short time leading The Medical Center of Aurora, Mr. Hammett has already overseen the opening of the Invision Sally Jobe outpatient imaging center on the hospital's campus. "Medical imagining plays a crucial role in the health and well-being of our community, and Invision Sally Jobe is the premier provider of these services in Colorado," Mr. Hammett has said.

Along with his career in healthcare, Mr. Hammett is very involved in the community. He has been involved with the Alzheimer's Association, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the American Heart Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

In recognition of his history of healthcare leadership and dedication to improving healthcare, Mr. Hammett was named to Becker's Hospital Review's 2012 list of 300 Hospital and Health Systems Leaders to Know.
