CEO Michael K. Lauf: Developing Focused Strategy at Cape Cod Healthcare

Michael K. Lauf, MBA, has served as president and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare in Hyannis, Mass., since December 2010. Cape Cod Healthcare is a regional health system with two acute-care hospitals and other health facilities.

Prior to becoming CEO of the system, Mr. Lauf served as COO from 2008 to 2010. He was named president of Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital in 2010 before being promoted to head of the system.

During his time at Cape Cod Healthcare, the system made advances in operational and financial performance and developed a strategy focused on quality, service and access and process improvement.

Before joining CCHC, Mr. Lauf was the COO of Bristol (Tenn.) Medical Center. While he was there, he developed a hospital performance scorecard and helped raise patient and physician satisfaction scores.

In 2011, Becker's Hospital Review recognized Mr. Lauf as a "rising star" healthcare leader.

He earned his MBA from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pa.
