CEO Dr. Steven Corwin: Honor Roll Leadership of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital
Dr. Corwin joined NewYork-Presbyterian's management team in 1991 and has since served in various management capacities. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Dr. Corwin served as executive vice president and COO of the hospital, a position he held since 2005. He was responsible for advancing the institution's strategic initiatives to fulfill its core mission of serving patients, including an intense focus on quality and patient safety, advancing clinical and technological innovation, building physician and institutional partnerships, meeting the medical needs of underserved communities and maintaining financial and operational strength. From 1998 to 2005, he was senior vice president and CMO of the hospital.
Dr. Corwin is a member of the Greater New York Hospital Association Committee on Quality and Outcomes and Committee on Bioterrorism. He is a fellow at the New York Academy of Medicine and a member of the Health Management Academy. Dr. Corwin has been a recipient of the Hope and Heroes Award, the VHA Award for Clinical Quality, the Health Care Industry Good Scout Award, and an Honorary Physician-of-the-Year Award presented to him by the NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia Division of Nursing. He is also a board member of New York Methodist Hospital, New York Hospital Queens and Valley Health System.
A cardiologist and internist, Dr. Corwin received his medical degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. He completed training in internal medicine and cardiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
