The WSC reports women hold 50 percent of professional roles in the United States, but computing occupations are far behind with just 25 percent of roles filled by women.
There is opportunity for women to break into the field, and there are a number of organizations working to help them do just that, according to the report.
The WSC is a nonprofit dedicated to helping women in cybersecurity throughout their career progression. The Women in Cyber Project aims to bring together cybersecurity companies, government and other stakeholders to help bring women into the field. The National Science Foundation also launched the Women in Cyber Security initiative to recruit and advance women in the field.
