Fitbit has selected a former Walgreens digital health expert to join its team as vice president of digital health. Adam Pellegrini will assume his new position with the wearable company Sept. 6.
Mr. Pellegrini most recently served as vice president of digital health at Walgreens, where he led the integration of connected device and wearables with the retail pharmacy chain's rewards program.
At Fitbit, Mr. Pellegrini will help connect Fitbit's products, information data and insights into the clinical setting, developing partnerships with key healthcare stakeholders.
"I'm a passionate believer in the power of digital health technology to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and reach of our healthcare system," Mr. Pellegrini said in a statement. "I see a tremendous opportunity for healthcare providers, health plans and pharmaceutical companies to foster a more proactive, consumer-centric approach to healthcare using Fitbit's products, software, services and extraordinary health brand."
