The Spok Care Connect platform features an operator console, on-call scheduling functionality, web directory, emergency notification, call recording and paging.

The 394-bed Virginia Hospital Center will roll out the platform as well as Spok’s secure mobile messaging application Spok Mobile. The app enables clinicians to send protected health information, including updates, images and videos, via their smartphones.

“Two years ago, we decided to invest in a new EHR and now, interoperability is a top priority for us,” said Michael Mistretta, vice president and CIO at Virginia Hospital Center. “We started looking for an integrated communication solution to complement the benefits of our EHR and after comparing Spok to other options on the market, we realized no one offered the breadth of capabilities.”
