Vandalized warehouse, stolen documents prompt breach notification from Hunt Regional Medical Partners

Hunt Regional Medical Partners Family Practice at Westlake in Quinlan, Texas, has reported a potential data breach after a warehouse storing patient records was vandalized.

The intruders were able to access records for patients seen at Westlake Medical Center before 2010, containing information such as health information, addresses and Social Security numbers.

The intrusion occurred between Jan. 16 and 17. The medical practice has started an investigation, relocated the records and is reviewing internal procedures to determine additional safeguards, according to the statement.

Hunt Regional Medical Partners Family Practice recently acquired Westlake Medical Center and is taking responsibility for the breach, according to the statement.
