USDA Grants More Than $30M for 100 Telemedicine Projects

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has granted a total of more than $30 million for 100 telemedicine projects in 34 states and one territory, according to a USDA news release.

The USDA Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program provided funding to improve access to healthcare and educational services in rural areas. For example, Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa, will receive $262,742 to connect its emergency room and outpatient and inpatient centers with local schools and area nursing homes. The Maine Sea Coast Missionary Society will receive $108,820 to purchase video equipment for a ship-based medical examining room.
