Mr. DeVries is currently the principal deputy CIO at the U.S. Department of Defense. He’ll take on his role at the OPM “in the coming weeks,” according to a press release.
He will replace Donna Seymour, OPM’s previous CIO who resigned in February, according to The Wall Street Journal. Her resignation came eight months after a massive data breach comprised the information of more than 20 million individuals and only two days before a scheduled appearance before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Shortly after the breach, a group of 18 congressmen asked President Obama to remove Ms. Seymour and OPM Director Katherine Archuleta from office. Ms. Archuleta resigned in July 2015.
