UPMC to Release New Branded App

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center plans to release a branded app to help customers find the nearest UPMC location and see emergency department wait times, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The app, Care Now, is designed to foster patient engagement and retention. "It's part of a series of products we're building out around the care experience," said Dan Shoenthal, UPMC's director of product management, in the report.

The app is not UPMC's first. UPMC HealthTrak allows patients to see test results, communicate with physicians and see upcoming appointments, and EMS Navigator directs emergency medical workers to the nearest ED and includes trauma care advice and dosage calculators.
