The Bakar Precision Cancer Medicine Building opened to patients June 24 and is expected to be able to serve about 700 patients a day by the fall. The 170,000-square-foot cancer center features 120 exam and consultation rooms, 47 infusion bays and 19 types of imaging services.
At the new building, part of the university’s Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, patients will have access to therapies designed to meet their individual needs based on their genetic makeup. Genetic counseling, social work programs, yoga, exercise classes, and nutrition and dietary consultations also will be available.
The center also aims to unite patients, clinicians and researchers to advance the precision medicine approach to cancer care.
