University of California, Riverside Health deployed the Epic EMR system across each of its clinical sites. The deployment is part of a partnership with UC San Diego Health.

Most UC Health facilities use the Epic EMR system. UC San Diego Health has used it since 2005. UC San Diego Health’s health information services team worked with UCR School of Medicine’s IT office to install the Epic system in an expedited 10-week time frame.

With the implementation at UC Riverside Health, physicians will gain access to data from other UC Health organizations, including patient information and population health tools, among others.

“The combined dataset of all UC Health systems together will provide unique insights for research. For example, if one UC health system has best practices for managing opiate prescribing in Epic, we can easily adopt those decision supports as well,” said UC Riverside Health’s interim Chief Medical Information Officer John Luo, MD.
