UnityPoint Health Extending Fiber Optic Network to Nebraska

West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health's wholly owned subsidiary HealthNet connect is expanding its fiber optic network to eight hospitals in Nebraska.

HNc provides communication and IT services to UnityPoint Health affiliate participants, such as high-speed broadband, cloud technologies, telehealth capabilities and IT support services.

"Effective sharing of health information technology and services requires high-speed data network connectivity between participating organizations," said Mark Weiss, executive director of Enterprise Technical Services for Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, one of the hospitals to receive the fiber optic network capabilities, in a news release. "The HealthNet connect network provides a cost-effective and sustainable network solution to our rural and metropolitan partners. We are excited to work with HNc to enable improved care delivery in our region."

The following Nebraska hospitals will soon be joining the HealthNet connect network.

  • Nebraska Medical Center (Omaha)
  • Bryan Medical Center (Lincoln)
  • Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center (Beatrice)
  • Faith Regional Health Services (Norfolk)
  • Columbus Community Hospital (Columbus)
  • Fremont Area Medical Center (Fremont)
  • Great Plains Regional Medical Center (North Platte)
  • Mary Lanning Healthcare (Hastings)
