Top AI Google employee jumps ship to Apple

One of Google’s top artificial intelligence employees, Ian Goodfellow, left the company to join Apple, according to CNBC.

Mr. Goodfellow updated his LinkedIn profile April 4 to state he is now serving as a director of machine learning within Apple’s special project group. Google confirmed to CNBC that Mr. Goodfellow had left the company.

Apple has been increasingly seeking AI talent. The tech giant hired John Giannandrea, the former AI and search leader at Google, to supervise its AI strategy. Apple is constantly developing AI tools for its FaceID and Siri  and is working on autonomous driving technology.
