The number of patients covered by insurance with low reimbursements, including Medicare, Medicaid and Public Employees Insurance Agency, as well as a decrease in commercial payers seeking care at Thomas Health, led the system to review its operations, a hospital spokesperson told WSAZ 3.

It is not yet known whether more lay offs will take place.
