MSOs offer administrative and technology services, such as electronic health records, to healthcare providers and ensure that protected health information is stored, accessed and/or transmitted in a private and secure manner.

Accreditation through MSOAP demonstrates qualified MSOs exceed industry-established standards and comply with HIPAA regulations, including privacy and confidentiality measures, level-of-service and escalation procedures, transaction response times and systems availability. MSOAP also analyzes security infrastructure and data integrity measures, including disaster recovery, and evaluates transaction processing efficiency.
