The American Health Information Management Association surveyed 2,526 health information professionals to assess workforce challenges and found the following:
- Limitations on compensation and a lack of local talent have been contributing to health information staffing issues.
- Understaffing of health information talent has been increasing burnout and dissatisfaction.
- Understaffing of health information talent lowered data quality at organizations.
- Fifty-nine percent of health information professionals surveyed reported that COVID-19 made staffing workloads worse.
