Texas workers' compensation considers telemedicine

The Texas Department of Insurance Workers' Compensation Research Division recently conducted a study on telemedicine, according to an Insurance Journal report.

The study identified the designated physician process and spine surgery second opinion process as two areas that could benefit from telemedicine.

Texas could particularly benefit from implementing workers' compensation telemedicine processes because the state is largely rural, according to the report. Telemedicine could play a role in expanding patient access.
