Shannon Norfleet, TRMC’s public information officer, told The Daily Tribune the hospital learned of the network issue Jan. 15 around 7:30 p.m. “We couldn’t get to our data,” she said. “When the computers went down and the network administrators accessed the network, there was the ransomware code.”
She said the ransomware virus encrypted files on several TRMC database servers, which affected employees’ ability to access the EMR and interdepartmental orders. However, she said there is no reason to believe any data has been breached, according to the report.
At the time of the report (Jan. 20), TRMC was still working to rid the ransomware virus. Ms. Norfleet said the hospital has reverted back to paper records and orders in the meantime.
Becker’s has reached out to TRMC for an update on the computer systems and will update the story with any further information as it becomes available.
