Bill Carracino, MD, the CIO of Lee Memorial Health System, is the first neurologist in Lee County, Fla., to use telemedicine to treat a stroke, according to a Jan. 28 news release. Implementing telemedicine methods allows neurologists who are off-site to consult emergency department physicians and nurses on how to treat a stroke patient.
“There are obvious benefits to our community in the level and speed of care we’re able to provide,” Dr. Carracino said in the news release.
