UW Medicine will use the funding to build the new teaching facility, increase residency training in psychiatry, establish a new telehealth consultation center and provide training and technical assistance to mental health and substance abuse providers throughout Washington state.
In addition to the 150-bed facility, the new hospital will feature space for telehealth consultations, neuromodulation procedures and behavioral health training programs for physicians and other healthcare providers.
Washington has allocated $33.25 million to initiate the design and building of the new teaching facility and has designated a total of $225 million for the completion of the project over the next four years.
