Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health’s telehealth network Avera eCare launched the American Board of Telehealth as a telehealth education entity in August 2020. After rolling out the program, Avera eCare was acquired by private New York investment firm Aquiline Capital Partners this July.
ABT’s new teleprimary care certificate program will be offered online and provide educational resources on telehealth models and best practices that support primary care teams dealing with challenges such as reimbursement parity, regulatory barriers, infrastructure costs and new competition from retail clinics and urgent care centers, the organization said in an Aug. 17 news release.
“Our goal is to help primary care providers use telehealth to grow into more spaces, adopt more robust technologies, and provide seamless experiences that integrate home monitoring and remote devices into the care process,” Dr. Saiyed said in an Aug. 19 news release shared with Becker’s. “In order to do so, providers need to learn how to optimize telehealth tools for productivity, efficiency, and quality. They also need to know how to adapt traditional care strategies to work with remote care technologies.”
