Teladoc surpasses Q1 projections with $42.9M in revenue

Purchase, N.Y.-based Teladoc released its 2017 first quarter financial results May 8.

Here are five things to know.

1. The company’s total revenue was $42.9 million in the first quarter, up from 26.9 million one year prior. In March, Teladoc said it expected first quarter 2017 revenue to sit between $41.5 million and $42.5 million.

2. The company attributed the majority of its revenue to subscription access fees, which totaled $43.3 million in the first quarter of 2017.

3. Teladoc’s total membership peaked at 20.1 million, representing a 34 percent increase from the first quarter of 2016. Its visits also grew by 60 percent, reaching 384,839 in the first quarter of this year.

4. The company’s net loss hit $15.7 million, a slight increase from the $15.3 million it reported last year.

5. Teladoc reaffirmed its financial outlook for full-year 2017, expecting annual revenue to sit between $180 million to $185 million.
