The report, titled the 2017 Patient Engagement Perspectives Study, explores how both healthcare consumers and providers perceive recent developments in patient engagement.
Here are three of the report’s findings.
- Only 9 percent of providers report they feel “very comfortable” with the idea of telemedicine, although almost half (46 percent) say they are “somewhat comfortable.”
- One-third (32 percent) of providers say their practice offers telemedicine. However, only 23 percent of providers with telemedicine capabilities have used them.
- When asked to name their concerns about telemedicine, providers’ top picks were ability to have a thorough consultation over video (70 percent), privacy (43 percent) and patient familiarity with the technology (35 percent).
