The ACP surveyed a random sample of 233 members between October 2018 and January 2019 to measure telehealth technology usage. Telehealth services were defined by the following five capabilities: video visits, e-consults, remote patient monitoring, remote care management and integration of data from patient wearables.
Three survey insights:
1. E-consults are implemented most widely among survey respondents (33 percent). Of those who use the technology, 63 percent said they use it every week.
2. Remote care management technology is less widely available, with just 24 percent of respondents using the technology. Eighteen percent said they use video visits.
3. Only 24 percent to 34 percent of survey respondents said they are not involved in implementation plans for new telehealth technologies.
