Boise, Idaho-based St. Luke’s has partnered with Penn State University’s SAFE-T system to expand access to sexual assault forensic exams via telehealth.
The collaboration enables patients across the system to receive exams 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without traveling outside their communities, according to an April 17 news release.
Through the SAFE-T (Sexual Assault Forensic Examination-Telehealth) system, onsite clinical teams connect with sexual assault nurse examiners to guide exams, evidence collection and patient-centered care.
The system has been implemented at St. Luke’s critical access hospitals in Elmore County, Fruitland, McCall, Sun Valley, Jerome and Magic Valley.
The partnership aims to improve access to specialized care in rural areas where maintaining on-site forensic expertise can be challenging, the release said.
