Advocate Health logged 2.2 million virtual care encounters in 2025, a 30% jump from the prior year, according to a new report. The Charlotte, N.C.-based health system now offers 47 virtual care services across 258 sites in 10 states.
The report, titled “Care Without Boundaries: Advocate Health’s National Leadership in Virtual Care,” argues that virtual care performs best when embedded in a full health system rather than delivered through standalone apps. Advocate’s Hospital at Home program, the largest in the country, treats about 150 patients daily and has served more than 30,000 patients to date, with participants seeing more than a 20% reduction in hospital readmissions. Many of the participants are in rural communities, effectively creating the equivalent of 75 acute care hospital beds in those communities without building a new hospital.
“The most meaningful medical innovations don’t just advance care; they expand access to it,” said Eugene Woods, CEO of Advocate Health, in a news release. “This report demonstrates how virtual care is helping us reach more people, in more communities, with the same high-quality, compassionate care they would expect in our hospitals and clinics.”
Other findings include a 41% increase in pediatric urgent care visits over two years and a 48% jump in rural telehealth visits, to 15,000 patients in 2025. Advocate Health also plans to launch the nation’s largest hospital-based drone delivery network, targeting more than 100,000 annual deliveries across three markets.
Advocate is also urging Congress to make current telehealth and Hospital at Home reimbursement flexibilities permanent.
