Survey: Top 4 specialties for precision medicine

Around 29 percent of healthcare organizations indicated that they conduct precision medicine, according to the 2016 Essentials Brief: Precision Medicine Study, conducted by HIMSS Analytics.

The survey includes responses from 137 healthcare organizations, including academic medical centers, multi-hospital health systems and specialty hospitals.

Here are the four most common areas in which organizations are conducting precision medicine:

•    Cancer: 79.5 percent
•    Neurology: 38.5 percent
•    Prenatal screening: 30.8 percent
•    Cardiology: 28.2 percent

Note: Organizations were given a list of specialties and asked to select all that apply.
