For the survey, the research and development nonprofit asked 374 life science professionals about their attitudes toward AI, machine learning and neuro-linguistic programming.
Here are four things to know about AI use in the life science sector.
1. The plurality of respondents — 46 percent — said AI projects in use at their companies are in early discovery or preclinical research phases.
2. The majority of respondents — 94 percent — indicated they expect to use machine learning in their businesses within two years.
3. Eight percent of respondents reported they knew “next to nothing” about AI technologies.
4. The No. 1 barrier to AI adoption was technical expertise (30 percent). Other challenges included data quality (26 percent) and access to data (24 percent).
