Spok: Avoiding alarm fatigue essential to patient care

With so many alarms going off, and up to 90 percent being false alarms according to the post, it is easy for providers to become “desensitized” to any and all alarms going off. This proves dangerous, however, because when there is an actual alarm, someone desensitized will react in a lax manner.

Therefore, the post notes the importance of alarm management and limits in rectifying this situation. Spok works as the middle man between alarm limits and delivering the right alarms quickly.
