Foreigners looking to study in Japan must submit a Japanese language proficiency certificate to the Immigration Bureau. Since certificates can be issued by institutions aboard, illegal certifications have been found in different countries.
Japanese language schools will use the blockchain database to compare certificates with data registered on the decentralized ledger to verify authenticity.
Universities have also begun to install blockchain technology to prevent fake diplomas.
