Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System Informs Patients of Data Breach

Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System, based in San Jose, Calif., has sent letters to patients affected by a recent data breach.

On Sept. 16, an unencrypted laptop was stolen from the hospital’s audiology department containing patients’ personal and medical information. According to the letter, the theft has been reported to law enforcement and the hospital system is cooperating in an ongoing investigation.

The hospital system has not disclosed the number of patients affected.
