Riverside Health System, Chesapeake Regional select Epic EHR

Newport News, Va.-based Riverside Health System plans to implement Epic's EHR over the next couple of years, according to a Daily Press report.

Chesapeake (Va.) Regional Medical Center is also in the works to implement Epic's EHR and plans to be live on the system in spring 2016, according to the report.

Once Riverside Health System and Chesapeake Regional go live, the four providers in the Chesapeake Bay area — Riverside and Chesapeake will join Richmond, Va.-based Bon Secours and Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare — will be on the same platform, allowing providers at all facilities to access any patient's record, according to the report.

"We want to connect more tightly with patients, to communicate and engage patients in their care," said Charles Frazier, MD, Riverside's senior vice president and chief medical information and innovation officer, in the report. "We need a more integrated platform. We've been looking for this for years."
