Rhode Island HIE, BCBS Offer Joining Incentives to Lure Physicians

The Rhode Island Quality Institute has announced a partnership with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island to launch an incentive program for primary care physicians to use the state's health information exchange.

Eligible providers can receive up to $10,000 per practice for enrolling in and using CurrentCare, Rhode Island's HIE. Providers can qualify for payments by enrolling patients, using CurrentCare's online portal and hospital alert system and/or creating a direct messaging account to allow for communication from other providers.

"We are very excited about this program," said Jonathan Leviss, MD, CMO of Rhode Island Quality Institute, in the release. "By creating financial incentives for providers who adopt CurrentCare, the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island Incentive Program encourages improved patient care across the state."
