Report: EHR Usability Chief Concern Among Physicians

Physicians overwhelmingly pointed to usability issues as a primary flaw in current electronic health record systems, according to a report by Black Book Market Research.

Findings include:

  • 91 percent of physicians older than 55 are dissatisfied with the usability of their EHR system.
  • Of the 66 percent of physicians who say they do not use EHRs willingly, 87 percent cite usability as a primary complaint.
  • 93 percent of physicians believe voice recognition software would help improve productivity
  • Only 2 percent of respondents believe they’re using their current EHR system to its fullest capacity.
