The System for Electronic Notes Documentation records and evaluates patients’ vital signs and immediately displays an Early Warning Score based on heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, arterial oxygen saturation, temperature and level of consciousness, which will help care providers decide if further medical intervention is necessary.
The new system will also be linked to the hospital’s pharmacy, so preparation of medication will begin as soon as it is prescribed by a physician.
The SEND project is supported by the National Institute for Health Research and the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.
