Quintiles Moves Into EHR Space With Acquisition of Encore Health Resources

Quintiles Transnational Holdings, a firm that assists healthcare and pharmaceutical companies run the necessary clinical trials to bring a new product to market, has signaled an expansion into electronic health record consulting with a recent acquisition.

Quintiles is expected to close its acquisition of Encore Health Resources, a firm that assists providers with the implementation and optimization of EHRs, later this quarter.

"Today's announcement signifies the increasing importance of leveraging EHR and real-world information to inform our customers and improve their probability of success," said Tom Pike, CEO of Quintiles, in a news release. "Encore has significant EHR expertise, strong relationships with many large U.S. provider networks and academic medical centers as well as experienced consultants, proven tools, and methodologies. It will be a key strategic addition for our business that will extend our services suite and allow us to work with Encore to strengthen its provider-focused solutions."
