Here are four things to know about Philips Medical Systems’ workforce reduction plan.

1. Philips Medical Systems characterized the move as a “mass layoff,” comprising a range of workers from various departments. The letter detailed all affected job titles, including a clinical product specialist and a technical support engineer.

2. The company attributed the layoffs to “business reorganization.” Philips intends to offer the 65 affected employees benefits such as severance and outplacement services.

3. In the letter, Philips wrote “we anticipate that there will be further layoffs throughout 2018 and we will update this notice as appropriate.”

4. The news adds to a recent announcement Philips made regarding operations in Ohio, cleveland.com reports. In February, the company announced plans to cease manufacturing at a Highland Heights, Ohio-based plant during the second half of 2018, refocusing the site’s services on research and development.
