Philips, Illumina & Navican join forces to deploy precision medicine informatics

Navican, an Intermountain Healthcare company, entered an agreement with Royal Philips on June 1 to enable hospitals and health systems to utilize Intermountain’s precision medicine program.

The services, made available through Navican, seek to improve outcomes for late stage cancer patients by offering specialized programs and guidance for both oncologists and patients. Hospitals and health systems will have the option to send patient samples to Navican for molecular analysis and interpretation provided through the company's TheraMap Precision Cancer Care platform.

Under the agreement, healthcare organizations will also have access to Philips' IntelliSpace Genomics platform, which informs precision medicine treatment at the point-of-care through large-scale genomic and clinical data analysis. The Philips platform also integrates next-generation sequencing technologies from Illumina.

Navican will first deploy the program within the Intermountain Healthcare network, although it seeks to expand services by the end of 2017.
