Patient Erika Redd, of Pennsylvania, filed the complaint July 3 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She claims the two-hospital system violated her privacy by sharing her information with third parties through software such as Google Analytics and the pixel technology from Facebook company Meta Platforms. Numerous health systems around the country have been hit with similar lawsuits.
Ms. Redd seeks class-action status, damages and injunctive relief. Heritage Valley Health System didn’t respond to requests from Becker’s for comment.”
