A patient and a former employee of Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Healthcare filed a lawsuit against the health system after it experienced a cyber event that may have compromised individuals' protected health information, ABC affiliate WHAS reported July 26.  

After raising its guidance for 2023 in its second-quarter earnings, Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare said that the July data breach and the health system's ability to get value from its EHR could affect its future earnings.

Telehealth exploded out of necessity during the COVID-19 pandemic, but as the U.S. moves out of the COVID-19 era, hospital leaders told Becker's they are relying less on telehealth.

The Agriculture Department gave Charlottesville, Va.-based UVA Health over $5 million to expand telemedicine programming for rural communities, according to a July 25 report from CBS19 News.

John Riggi, the national adviser for cybersecurity and risk for the American Hospital Association, said foreign hacking groups in countries such as Russia, China and North Korea are making the association "very concerned," NPR reported July 26.
