The White House and the Department of Health and Human Services are monitoring the cyberattack affecting Prospect Medical Holdings, a 16-hospital system, according to an Aug. 5 report from CNN.

Muhammad Siddiqui, chief information security officer of Richmond, Ind.-based Reid Health, called the recent cyberattacks on hospitals, including the ransomware attack on Culver City, Calif.-based Prospect Medical Holdings, "deeply concerning."

Bellevue, Wash.-based Overlake Hospital Medical Center is facing a lawsuit for allegedly using pixel tracking technology on its website that allowed third parties to gain access to some patients' protected health information, The Record reported Aug. 4.

Indianapolis-based IU Health's third-party claims processor, TMG Health, has been affected by the massive breach on MOVEit that has affected millions of people across a variety of industries, local NBC affiliate WTHR reported Aug. 4.

The U.S. Office for Civil Rights is investigating a May 31 data breach that affected Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Health System, local NBC affiliate WBALTV reported Aug. 4. 

Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina is partnering with Andor Health, a virtual care company using ChatGPT, to power its decentralized telehealth network.

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health clinicians are using the Dax app from Nuance, a software company owned by Microsoft, to generate clinical notes and save time charting, CNBC reported Aug. 7.

Staples, Minn.-based Lakewood Health System will go live with its Epic EHR system on Aug. 13,  Brainerd Dispatch reported Aug. 5.
