Best-of-breed vendors like Elekta and Varian continue to command a large market share as they provide the needed functionalities while catering specifically to oncology. However, enterprise vendors like Cerner and Epic are beginning to increase their presence in the marketplace. Another vendor to watch is McKesson, which is poised to significantly increase its market share following the acquisition of US Oncology and iKnowMed.
“The best-of-breed vendors have had to tighten up their interfacing capabilities to prove that they can compete with the enterprise vendors,” said report author Monique Rasband in the news release. “However, with only 67 percent of providers in the study attesting for meaningful use, it is clear that there is a lot of room for growth and support from all oncology vendors.”
