An ONC-funded SMART project has launched a tool aimed at improving clinician's clinical documentation quality and demonstrating where improvement can be made.
The SMART C-CDA Scorecard tool "fills gaps and provides visibility into constraints missing from official specifications," according to the SMART website. The website also collects submissions of sample clinical documentation from a variety of different EHRs and data entry platforms.
Clinical documentation is increasingly becoming a focus area for many hospitals because it's becoming more tied to reimbursement and the revenue cycle. The SMART website enables health IT experts to download and test various standards for clinical documentation.
