Accellion provides a security-focused, HIPAA compliant private cloud that integrates with organizations’ existing systems and workflows. The platform aims to ensure patient data privacy when hospital medical staff collaborate with external partners.

A key component of the cloud-based platform is a plug-in for Microsoft Outlook, which will allow clinicians and staff to securely send attachments containing protected health information to partners outside the institution.

“Our doctors and nurses handle large volumes of protected health information and it is our responsibility to ensure that this is done securely,” said Soma Bhaduri, director of information security and risk management at NYC Health + Hospitals.
